I live with my partner in a condominium in Tokyo. I am a musician.
I don't like heavy, bulky chairs like piano chairs, so I searched for "cello chairs" to see if there was anything better. A light, compact half chair with a small seat was perfect.
To be honest, I thought it was a little pricey, but it's well made and doesn't wobble, so I'm glad I bought it.
I bought it to play the guitar.
At first glance it looks like a dining chair, but its unique feature is that its depth is half that of a dining chair. It was designed by Jeong Woo-jin, a Korean designer who specializes in industrial design.
It is suitable for cellists, violinists, etc. and is said to support the spine while keeping the person sitting upright.
So I thought, maybe it would be good for guitar too?
It's small but stable, smooth to the touch, and comfortable to sit on. It's light and the color is darker and more subdued than in the photo, so it was perfect!
I was considering buying a cheaper imported product, but I'm glad I decided on this one. I was reminded once again how meticulous and careful the craftsmanship of Japanese artisans is, and most importantly, how beautiful they are.
